Thankfully these days the subject of anal sex and anal play is becoming less of a taboo, and more of curiosity and embracing of pleasure, and more and more people are coming out of the woodwork and proudly taking ownership of their love of all things butt play. Because anal play is far more than just anal sex, we thought we’d put together a list of all the terms and phrases etc associated with butts and butt play so you are more informed and therefore have more understanding of what it is you like, what you’d like to try, and also what others you play with are into.
Anal Sex
In the most basic of terms, anal sex is the act of a penis entering, and having sex with, the anal passage of their partner. It can be a woman’s butt or a man’s butt and it really only makes you gay if you’re already gay. So put away that silly homophobia and get butt fucking!
Anal Fingering
Using your fingers to stimulate the anal passage. Often done at the same time as something else (perhaps during a blowjob or maybe doggy style) and can be a great way to prepare and train yourself for actual anal sex with a penis or toy.
Anal Fisting
Again, this is pretty much what it sounds like. The act of using one’s entire hand or fist to penetrate and fuck someone’s butt hole. It can take a LOT of practise and easing, and if not done properly can cause a bit of damage to the very sensitive and pretty non-elastic skin. So please use lots of lube and communication when playing this way.
Eating Ass
This is oral sex on the butt hole. It can consist of licking, sucking, kissing, tonguing and even biting. Rimming
Similar to eating ass, although rimming is usually just concentrated on the outside of the butt-hole and doesn’t necessarily include any penetration of the passage. Figging

Anal Beads
A string of beads (usually about the size of a marble) that is pushed up into the anal passage and then slowly pulled out, creating little pops of sensation and eroticism as each is pulled out. Enema/Douching
These two things are fairly similar - the cleaning out of the anal passage – but the big difference is the reason for doing them. Anal Gaping
Super popular in anal porn, anal gaping is the practice of inserting toys or fingers into the anal passage, and moving it around in a circular motion as you pull in and out. This sort of tricks the sphincter into thinking there is still an object inside it even when there isn’t, and it will open up widely to accommodate it, creating a large gaping hole which is an incredible turn on for both the giver and the receiver. Because of the delicate and non-elastic nature of the anus, it takes quite a bit of time, effort, concentration and patience to get the butt hole to this stage, but for those who enjoy and want to indulge, it’s worth doing it in this slow and careful way and to avoid any permanent damage to the area. Usually the “gape” will last anything up to an hour and should relax back to its regular and normal tightness again afterwards.
Remember, when it comes to anal play, lubricant is your absolute best friend and you can never apply too much!
