Is Cleavage out of fashion?

Woman's breasts in a red lacy bra

Cleavage is dead! Décolletage is not on trend!

Well that’s according to UK Vogue magazine who reported in their December issue the end of cleavage. The article says, "cleavage - those magnificent mounds pushed together to display sexual empowerment, to seduce, to inspire lust or even just to show off - is over, or at least, taking a well-earned break."

Vogue also conducted a Twitter poll in which 11% of followers agreed that cleavage is over whilst 67% said “if you have it, flaunt it”.

But whilst recent runway shows and red carpet events may have featured high necklines and braless boobs, Vogue really doesn’t represent the millions of women worldwide who flaunt their luscious mounds and the men who admire them. Let’s face it, putting forward the argument that a woman’s body shape is “out of style” is offensive and the comments on Twitter reflect the angry response from women, and men. The brutal backlash on Twitter declared that the writer was probably flat chested and that Vogue should be focussing on fashion not women’s bodies. Let’s be realistic, boobs are not a fashion accessory you can change with the season like, say a handbag.

In her defence writer KathleenBaird-Murray  defended herself on Twitter:

So the article was meant to be about fashion changing its focus away from cleavage rather than boobs being unfashionable. The article claims fashionistas are packing away their push up bras and opting for more subtle glimpses of flesh.

So the bottom line is that boobs will never go out of fashion! We love boobs – A cup or DD cup, enhanced or natural – we love them all.

Ladies, if you’ve got it, you have our permission to flaunt it. If you’re preparing for a night of seduction then put your best assets forward and if you are endowed with cleavage we have no doubt you will use it, and we are here to encourage you and cheer you on.

Vogue might have declared, "The tits will not be out for the lads. Or for anyone else, for that matter." but we’re telling you boobs, and cleavage, will never go out of style.

A fashion magazine will never have the power to change the minds of people who are sexually charged by the beauty of such things as cleavage. Nykirys hit the nail on the head with her comments.

My god this is a pile of crap...
how about we stop questioning what is in and out of fashion for women and just let women do what they want. Like...has that occurred to anybody :/ It's a goddamn body part...you can't say something is "out of fashion" or "in fashion" when it's a body part...

Good on you kiddo.....I think some have nothing to do with their time and write articles to "wind us up"> I guess if we respond, they have won.

Flat chested, large chested, high neckline tops, low neckline tops, love it all. Variety is the spice of life I say.

The only reason that cleavage would be on its way out in fashion is because we are becoming more open to seeing the entire breast even if it is through a sheer garment (plus exposed breasts gets far more media attention and hits). No complaints here with that development. Although at the same time discovering what's underneath a garment later on after the sexual tension has built can be far more exciting so I don't think you'll see any particular style take over or eliminate the others. Variety is the spice of life ;-)

Cleavage out of fashion? REALLY? Now, I do not mean this comment to sound homophobic but it is well-known that the fashion industry is mainly run by guys who have no interest in women.

So guys that means that you will have to look at her eyes when you talk to her and not stare down at the sexy hot cleavage that would normally get your attention. ........damm its so sexy when a man cant help himself but look......vogue has definetly got it all wrong.....the cleavage ...the elegance make a curvy woman stop men in their tracks.

Oh Vogue... Stop trying to make "fetch" a thing.

Aziiiif cleavage is ever going to go "out of fashion". That's like saying "legs will go out of fashion" What a ridiculous statement.
Some people like it more than others, sure... But fashion? Vogue, darling, our breasts are not handbags we can chop and change to match our shoes.

    Ridiculous.

    :)

      Haha!!

Kind of related... My husband has this thing for fixing bikes called a "fletching tool" and it's written really big on the box... And every time I read it I think it says "felching tool" and I double take.
      Every. Time.
He's had it for 100 years. Haha.
