Fisting with an IUD
Q: I’ve been slowly working on fisting, I’ve not had kids so in my mind I might be a bit tighter, but want to keeping trying. This week I’m getting a mirena put in, what are your thoughts, opinions and cautions on fisting with a mirena?
For those reading who don't know, a mirena is an IUD (an interuterine device) which is a small, sort of T-shaped device that's inserted into the uterus - by a doctor, it is not something you do at home by yourself - and, depending on the sort you get, can protect from unwanted pregnancies for around five to ten years, and it's super effective at about 99%.
There are a few different sorts and they all do it slightly differently, but basically they work by hormonally making the uterus unliveable for sperm, making the egg unreachable and therefore unfertilisable.
As for fisting, I don't think anyone needs a breakdown on that so we'll get right to it shall we!
The good news is that neither babies, or the lack of them, nor an IUD like a mirena should stop you from being able to enjoy fisting and other vigorous sexual activities as much as you want to.
On your first point, while sure, babies are pretty fucking big considering how very, very small that actual opening is, the vagina is an incredible organ that can take a pounding (or a fisting) and then snap right back to it's original form like a rubber band (yes, of course the process of healing and re-strengthening that area after birth is far more complex and takes far longer than a *snap*, but that's not the topic here today, so consider that a montage).
And, on the other side of that, of course, is the fact that it's able to be stretched and filled to quite surprising capacities even if it has never given birth.
As for the mirena, no again. There should be no real reason why having an IUD should interfere with your sex life at all, even if it's of the more full-filling sort (see what I did there?)
IUDs are inserted into the uterus, which doesn't get touched during sex, and, while yes, there are strings that do kinda protrude from the cervix they really shouldn't get in the way at all, and you can always ask the doctor to make sure the strings are cut short when you're getting it done.
It's recommended you don't let anything go inside the vagina for around 24‐48 hours after insertion, and that's not just sex or tampons, but also means to avoid things like baths and swimming pools, and it's also important to still use condoms for about a week afterwards to let it get itself settled and getting to work in stopping the invading sperm.
In saying that however it is REALLY important to remember that IUDs do not have any effectiveness against STIs whatsoever. They are purely for birth control, so if you're having non monogamous sex it's still really important to remember to use condoms.
Every now and then the fister may be able to feel the little strings, especially at first (they soften over time), and especially if they're going deep towards the cervix, but there is really only a slim possibility they could accidentally tug on them, which could cause some discomfort, but shouldn't do any real lasting or worrying damage. In extremely rare cases, in the first few months of having one, an IUD can get dislodged a little and cause pain and bleeding and even lose its birth control effectiveness, but that hardly ever happens because of sex, and far more often from things like internal uterine cramps.
Overall the consensus from doctors, sexperts and people who have them is go for it! Fist away! Fisting really is an awesome, sexy way to fuck and you're gonna have a lot of fun working it all out and getting to the good stuff!
Don't forget that lube is your best friend and please make sure your fister's fingernails are smooth and clean!
