Dog Toy or Sex Toy?
The inspiration for this article came from a friend whose dog, yes you guessed it, found and chewed his wife’s sex toy. Apparently it’s quite common for pets to find, chew and destroy their owner’s sex toys. So what’s the appeal to our furry four-legged family members, and could you tell the difference if you were handed a “toy” you’d never seen before.
So back to our friend’s story. They are a vanilla couple who, after a big night out with friends suggested that the friends sleep over. The next morning they come downstairs to find their children watching TV, the friends sitting on the couch quietly waiting for them to come downstairs and, wait for it, the dog chewing on a rather large brightly coloured dildo. Cue awkward pause.
So what’s the attraction? Well sex toys are often made out of the same materials, they’re brightly coloured and usually a similar size to a chew toy. Now that information is in your brain it will be hard to forget, right? And of course the toy, if it’s been used, will contain your scent. Gross but strangely flattering that our pets loves us so much. Why can’t they just steal our shoes? And if you haven’t bought your pooch a new toy lately well, all bets are off if your toybox is within their reach.
Search on Twitter for phrases like “dog ate vibrator" or “dog ate butt plug” and you will find hundreds of results. There was a dog walker in the UK who was shocked to find the dog she walks everyday in Derbyshire was carrying around a large sex toy in his mouth during their morning stroll. Then we read that a group of dogs were sent into a frenzy on their afternoon walk with a Scottish dog walker after chancing upon a girthy foot long dildo. We do wonder why it was in the golf course bushes though. And on Reddit, there are posts about the gnawed $300 WeVibe and the story about the swallowed cock ring.

The moral of the story, keep your toybox out of sight and reach of your playful pooch or it could be a very expensive or damaging mistake.
Before you go don’t forget to comment if you have a “dog toy” story you’d like to share and check out the YouTube video where you have to guess which toys have been made for dogs.
