How to Feng Shui your Sex Life
The concept of Feng Shui is about enhancing the flow of chi - life force - and creating an harmonious environment. Follow these tips to create a boudoir which welcomes you and your lover into a serene and sensual sanctuary and leaves the outside world outside.
Shut Out the Outside World
Your bedroom shouldn't be your office space or your workout space. Electronic equipment can destroy Feng Shui energy with audible notifications, screens coming to life whenever an email or a notification is received, blinking lights and EMF emissions. And consider leaving your mobile phone outside the room and disabling wireless when you shut the door to create a calm environment and leave the outside world outside.
You will have more time to focus on your lover, experience a deeper sleep and awake less stressed.
Positioning your Bed
A queen size bed is recommended. Being connected means making contact with your partner and making contact creates intimacy. If your bed is too big the connection can be lost.
Avoid having your bed directly under a window or in line with the door, in fact try to have it as far from the door as possible whilst still being able to see the door. There should be a bedside table on either side to give the room balance and easy access from both sides.
Good quality natural fibre sheets will help create harmonious Feng Shui energy (as well as being a turn on) and once you've slept on 500 count there really is no going back. Red is an auspicous colour so have a set of red sheets for those passionate nights when you want a burst of energy.
Clear the Clutter
Keep your bedroom and any storage areas organised and clear of clutter. You want a space which lures you in and allows you to focus on the connection with your partner. Less is more and even clutter behind closed doors can deplete energy. And don't use the space under your bed to store boxes which can block the energy flow. Also get rid of any objects or furniture which have memories of a negative time.
When you close your bedroom door to the outside world also close doors to ensuites and walk in robes to contain the harmonious energy within your bedroom itself. Bathrooms, and especially toilets, are "chi" suckers which drag your positive energy literally down the drain.
And keep photos of relatives out of the bedroom. From a Feng Shui perspective it's like having all those people in bed with you.
Use Colour to achieve Balance
There's no doubt that colour impacts our psychology and our physiology. There are two schools of thought when it comes to choosing colours with Feng Shui in mind.
Some say the best colours for bedrooms are calming colours from skin tones through to pink and deep chocolate. Pink and red are also the colours of romance and using them in the bedroom can increase the romance in our lives but limit them to colour accents as traditionally red is associated with yang and can be too stimulating.
The more complex school of thought is that colours, like the elements they represent, are either yin or yang chi energy. Yin is the female energy and yang is the male energy. The ideal is to create a balance between both energies. Traditional Feng Shui uses an actual compass to sector your bedroom and help you chart the best colours.
Regardless you want to choose colours which create a welcoming environment.
Lighting
Good lighting is critical and you should have several levels of lighting available throughout the room which can be dimmed or adjusted. During the day you want plenty of natural light, soft light in the evening and a darkened room when you sleep.
Candles are the best option as they clear the energy and create an intimate and romantic atmosphere.
Create a Sensual Haven
Design a room which is beautiful to look at and appeals to your senses - smell, touch, taste and sound.
- When purchasing new bedroom furniture choose pieces with curves and soft lines. Corners or right angles are believed to direct negative energy towards you while you sleep. Limit the amount of clutter on your bedside table to a lamp, an inspirational book and perhaps a scented candle to create a "zen" space.
- In the feng shui "map" of the bedroom the far right corner is the "love centre". Whether you're single or part of a couple, consider devoting that corner to a "shrine to love" with a photo of you and your partner (or art that depicts a happy couple), a pair of candles, a book of romantic poetry and a heart-shaped box.
- Music is a fabulous way to help you move energy flow towards more romance. Music can soothe and seduce - perhaps this is not the time to indulge in your love of Metallica. Download a soundtrack with nature sounds or place a wind chime outside the window.
- Plants placed in corners (away from the bed) are believed to prevent negative energy from stagnating.
Follow these strategies and turn your chaotic bedroom into a sensual haven devoted to love.

More than a month agoIn Feng Shui dogs traditionally guard homes from negative influence so if they growl at the person in your bed perhaps take it as a sign it's not meant to be. And if you can perform while your dog is intently watching you then you're a better man than most.
