How long should sex last?
Q: I’ve heard of guys trying things like jacking off before sex to help them last longer, but sometimes I’m just happy with a quickie. How long should our sex actually be lasting?
How long is a piece of string? Sex should last exactly as long as sex lasts - ideally when both/all parties have hit an orgasm. But let’s be honest, life is not a porno and that doesn’t always happen every single time.
What we’re saying is, there is no right or wrong when it comes to the length of your sex sessions, as long as you’re both happy with the outcome.
Plus, if anyone having sex has the mental capacity to keep an eye on the clock while in the throws, we think there might be another issue here entirely.
Average sex times around the world
We recently published a blog article with some eye-opening stats on the average sex times from around the world. As it turns out, Aussie guys are already on top of their game, coming in first place - at least in terms of duration - out of more than 130 countries.
Our average duration was 4 minutes and 3 seconds. That said, judging by your comments on the article, many of you think averages times should be much, much higher.
The thing to remember here is that this study was conducted by measurements such as thrusts per minute and decibel levels (via a phone app), so it’s not actually counting the potentially much-longer foreplay times. Spanking, oral, massage and plain old kissing are all part of the experience and shouldn’t be discounted just because there’s no thrusting involved.
The beauty of a quickie
No times before work in the morning? Need to get to sleep early? Just want some fast gratification?
There is absolutely nothing wrong with a need-you-right-this-second quickie, and in fact, there are plenty of moments that call for this simple life pleasure. It’s much less about slow builds and anticipation, and all about a hot, quick fuck that’s over within minutes but leaves you with a smile for the rest of the day.
The wonders of sex marathons
When all things great and good collide, you get a sex marathon. With the time, energy, and desire to spend hours doing nothing but worshipping one another’s bodies, it can completely transport you into your own little world.
Multiple orgasms are possible for men and women, as a marathon doesn’t bother with sprints, but reaches peaks and troughs to allow all parties down time to regain their breath and strength. You’ll need some form of rehydration, perhaps a little lube, and an understanding that you’re both ready to go the distance.
So here’s your answer - do what feels best! If you want a quick session, enjoy the hotness of urgency. If you’ve got a rainy day and stamina to spare, why not give beating your own record a shot?
